Silk Road 1Ancient Silk Road-
In the ancient capital of the Silk Road, as has happened for the past 2000
years, all Central Asia gathers at the world's largest market, which takes
over Kashgar, China for the entire second week of October. Following the
ancient traditions of commerce, in the region of Kashgar, smaller, hidden markets continue year round.
In a chaotic display of Color, hundreds and thousands of Uighurs, Tajiks,
Kazakhs, Kyrgyz, Afghans, Pakistanis and others come by donkey cart, camel,
motorcycle and bus to haggle over and hawk livestock, endless corridors of
richly embroidered silks, spices, furnishings, swords, rugs heaped to the
ceiling, and folk medicines.
