New Rich in China 1

Since early 2004, I have had access to the private lives of the new wave of wealthy young Chinese. In this new China, chateaus have replaced teahouses as the preferred symbols of status. Many of these upwardly mobile Chinese have forged a rags-to-riches path and have move smartly into the new technology or the booming real state market. This new generation epitomise the transformation of the world most populous nation since its march to the market took of in the1980's.

"Before we had a market economy, people used to glorify politicians. At least we have some diversity now" - Professor Wang Jun of Guangzhou University.
